Despite all the Covid-19 related restrictions you can still come and see us in person.
Although the Hub remains closed we are now meeting up on Thursdays 10-2pm at Settle Quakers (Kirkgate, opposite Victoria Hall) and have use of the kitchen and small meeting room. We realise local and national restrictions may change what we offer, but while the building remains open, we will to be able to do something, even if it is just tea and cake and chairs outside.
Please be aware numbers may be limited at any one time so we may need to ask you to come back a bit later if we are busy when you arrive.
At these meet ups we can offer face to face computer support for those struggling with gadgets and also offer a chance to practise zoom. This will be done inside or outside with masks and lots of sanitiser to keep people as safe as possible.
We know this year has meant many people will have to face huge challenges whether it is family illness, addiction, pressures of caring responsibilities, poor mental health, redundancy or earlier retirement than planned, bereavement and much more. In these strange times, few groups are meeting in person and it is often hard to find out what services or activities are available, so these meet ups are more of a sort of support group for those not getting help elsewhere.
After many months at home we understand that some people are struggling to leave the house and begin to interact with others, so do call us if you would like a chat or some extra support to help you to come along. Various workers from local charities and groups will come along to our meet ups and we can also signpost to other information or services.
Come and have a catch-up with us in person over a cuppa, tell us your news, drop-off a poster (for the Hub’s window) or ink cartridges, sign-up for Settle Timebank and hear about all the Covid recovery plans going on around Settle. Weather permitting, we will also be doing some outdoor activities and hoping to take people to the allotment, and also do wildflower, mindfulness or foraging walks but come to Quakers first and we can go off from there.
