We're delighted to announce that Chris Newson is coming back to run two more workshops, this time at the Settle Quaker Meeting House on Thursday 31st July. She'll be running - one in the morning from 10am to 12.30 noon and one in the afternoon from 1.30 to 4pm, to give you a hands-on introduction and improvers sessions for the wonderful world of Chinese brush painting.
In each of these 2.5 hr workshops you will learn the basics of the art of Chinese brush painting or have the opportunity to develop and practice your skills if you've tried it before.
The sessions will include; Calligraphy on '1000 use' mats using water. This will involve standard script, running script and phrases suitable for putting on cards on couplet paper, fans and lampshades in hand ground ink. We will use grass and Shuan paper and lots of other types for those who want to try. We will paint old pine trees on mulberry bark paper which will be framed and also paint fish on paper to be window mounted on folding cards.
This is a hands on workshop and no artistic experience or knowledge of Chinese brush painting is needed - Chris will show you everything you need to know.
People are welcome to book both sessions and just do whatever aspect of this type of art work that interests them.
Costs will be £25 for each session and include all materials. Hot drinks will be provided, and soup for lunch but please do bring something to share if you would like to join us for lunch. There is a £5 discount for people booking both sessions. Use the code BOTH when booking to get the discount.
Settle Timebank members can use their time credits for this workshop so please contact Jo on firstname.lastname@example.org or pop into the hub to book your place.
